Panel Wrap-up

The DME would like to thank those who’ve reached out to us after our inaugural event in April.

While our focus isn’t exclusively ocular melanoma, our first panel addressed Dr. Daniel McMenamin's experience in understanding and treating this rare condition. Panelists discussed the intricacies of making healthcare information -- from clinical data to personal records -- more accessible to researchers, clinicians, caregivers, and patients.

Dr. Rainu Kaushal moderated the discussion between: Dr. Joseph Habboushe, who spoke as both a physician and Dr. McMenamin’s friend; Dr. Udai Kammula, whose research in tumor cell therapy reveals the difficulties in treating understudied diseases; Greg Allen of the NYSDOH, who seeks to improve our healthcare delivery system; and CURE Ocular Melanoma representatives, Carla Tressell and Chad Kimbler,  whose own diagnoses have prompted them to advocate for others in developing a patient registry.

We'd also like to thank Andrea Cohen and Weill Cornell for coordinating and hosting the event.

We continue to accept donations; please contact us if you have any inquiries.
